Shahjahanabad
Redevelopment Corporation is a Company limited by Shares not for
profit under section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956. The main objective
of the Corporation is to promote conservation of built and natural
heritage in the National Capital Territory of Delhi which needs
to be protected, nourished and maintained by all citizens, conservation
as an attitude in city's urban development process, conservation
of the civic and urban heritage which would include architecturally
significant and artisan works, historical landmarks and living
monuments having socio-cultural value not with the motive of profit.
THE
MAIN OBJECTS OF THE COMPANY TO BE PURSUED ON ITS INCORPOATION
ARE:
1.
To promote conservation of built and natural heritage in the National
Capital Territory of Delhi which needs to be protected, nourished
and maintained by all citizens, conservation as an attitude in
the city's urban development process, conservation of the civic
and urban heritage which would include architecturally significant
and artisan works, historical landmarks and living monuments having
socio - cultural value not with the motive of profit.
(B)
THE OBJECTS INCIDENTAL OR ANCILLARY
TO THE ATTAINMENT OF MAIN OBJECTS ARE:
1.
To conserve heritage buildings, heritage zones and other areas
of significant value.
2.
To protect and improve environmental assets of the city such as
the riverfront, ancient city walls, gates, bridges, vistas, public
places, edicts and rock cut formations.
3.
To take steps to improve civic services such as Water Supply,
Sewerage, Electricity Supply and Public Transport in NCT of Delhi
and for this purpose to raise or arrange funding from, and / or
otherwise capitalize as far as possible, sources such as the Jawaharlal
Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (NNURM) or similar schemes
as may be introduced from time to time.
4.
To conserve and improve historically significant streets and roof-scapes.
5.
To promote the re-use of old buildings for safe and appropriate
purposes.
6.
To formulate development plans/programmes and redevelopment
plans/programmes and implement such plans/programmes or assist in their implementation
through public private partnership or other frameworks, for built
and natural heritage, historical landmarks, living monuments and
associated services provisions in NCT of Delhi and the surrounding
areas and to invite and appoint experts, academicians and consultants
in any field required for the effective implementation of various
policies, programmes and plans as may be required from time to
time.
7.
To adhere to the guidelines of UNESCO, that grants World Heritage
status to monuments like the Qutab Minar.
8.
To link the heritage buildings to the adjoining big monuments
for their historical relevance and significance.
9.
To prepare and publish catalogues of heritage assets such as historical
buildings, areas and zones with reference to their relevant period
and significance in history.
10.
To coordinate efforts with regard to preservation, maintenance
and restoration of heritage buildings and monuments with other
organizations, including non-government organizations working
in this behalf.
11.
To coordinate with the Archaeological Survey of India with regard
to scientific study of identification of heritage buildings, monuments,
areas and vistas.
12.
To provide assistance to individuals, institutions and non-governmental
organizations in their efforts to save, conserve, project, restore,
preserve or maintain all or in part various components or urban
heritage.
13.
To actively coordinate with other governmental agencies engaged
in the conservation of heritage buildings, heritage zones and
other areas of significant value.
14.
To carry out restoration work of heritage buildings in accordance
with internationally acknowledged scientific practices..
15.
To diffuse knowledge - both academic and technical, for enabling
a person engaged or interested itself in the art of conservation,
preservation, maintenance and restoration of heritage buildings
and allied matters.
16.
To acquire by purchase, lease, gift, grant, legacy, bequest, exchange
or otherwise from a person, company, government or institution
whatsoever, and to hold all or part of the movable or immovable
properties of all descriptions - lands, buildings, easements,
rights of common now or hereafter vested in the possession of
any person or body and used or devoted to or for any purpose of
the Company.
17.
To maintain, deal with and manage such movable and immovable properties
of all descriptions of the Company.
18.
To investor deal with moneys of the Company not immediately required
upon securities or in such a manner as from time to time may be
determined by the Board of Directors of the Company, and to lend
money with or without security.
19.
To enter into arrangement with any Government or Authority, whether
Supreme, State, District, Municipal, Local or otherwise that may
seem to be conducive to the objects of the Company or to any of
them and to obtain from any Government or Authority such rights,
concessions and privileges as the Company may think desirable
and to obtain, carry out, exercise and comply with any such arrangements
rights, privileges and concessions.
20.
To promote proper security and upkeep of heritage sits so as to
keep them free of encroachments, unauthorized occupation, unauthorized
trade and unauthorized construction of any kind whatsoever.
21.
To advice individuals, department, institutions, organizations,
NGO's & such other persons concerned & engaged with any
kind of activities and matters relating to heritage.
22.
To organize and facilitate carrying out of educational programmes,
training and development programmes, exhibitions, seminars and
symposia on matters relating to conservation of heritage and to
provide technical and administrative assistance to individual,
departments, institutions, organizations, non governmental organizations
and such other persons concerned with and engaged in conservation
of heritage.
23.
To recommend to departments concerned in consultation with the
Archeological Department, demolition of any natural or built heritage
or part of natural or built heritage structure or building which
is considered to be standing dangerously and unsafe for environment
and people.
24.
To take necessary steps either by itself or through the concerned
Department of the Centre or State Governments, in the promotion
of heritage tourism & its related activates.
25.
To promote, assist, advise, render and provide consultative, participative
and management services in all matters relating to and all aspects
of preservation and upgradation of heritage sites including policy
formulation, promotion, development, implementation, construction,
operation, maintenance, management and finance thereof.

To establish, provide, maintain and conduct or subsidize archeological
research laboratories and experimental workshops for scientific
and technical researches, experiments and tests of all kinds and
devices and / or to sponsor or draw out programmes for promoting
scientific, technical, social, economic and educational research
and development and assist in the execution and promotion of such
programmes and to promote archeological studies and researches
both scientific and technical investigations, endowing or assisting
laboratories, museums, workshops, libraries, lectures, meetings
and conferences and by providing or contributing to the award
of scholarships, prizes, grants to students and generally to encourage,
promote inventions of any kind that may be considered useful to
the company.
27.
To take such steps by personal or written appeals, public meetings
or otherwise as may from time to time be deemed expedient for
the purpose of procuring contributions to the funds of the Company
or of funds in which the company is interested in the shape of
donations, annual subscriptions or otherwise.
28.
To focus on technical and scientific significance of civic and
urban heritage.
29.
To establish or maintain memorials and historical gardens.
30.
To open and operate current overdraft, loan, cash credit or deposit
or any other type of documents with any bank/financial
institution.
31.
To enter into contract, agreements and arrangements with any Department
of Government, or authorities, municipal, local or company, firm
or others, person or persons for carrying out of the objects of
the Company.
32.
To represent, negotiate and otherwise deal with the concerned
authorities for availing the necessary approvals, permits, clearances,
authorizations for implementing of comprehensive development
works.
33.
To apply, promote and obtain any act, charter, privilege, concession,
license or authorization of any government, state or municipality,
provisional order or license of any authority for enabling the
company to carry any of its objects into effect, or for extending
any of the powers of the company, or effective any modification
of the company's constitution or for or any other purpose which
may seem expedient and to oppose any proceedings or applications
which may seem calculated, directly or indirectly, to prejudice
the Company's interest.
34.
To refer, or agree to refer, any claim, demand, dispute or any
other question, by or against the Company, or in which the company
is interested or concerned and whether between the Company and
a member of his or their representatives, or between the company
and third parties, to arbitration in India or at any place outside
India, and to observe and perform and to do all acts, deeds, matters
and things to carry out or enforce the award.
35.
To lease, sell, deal in or to otherwise dispose and to purchase,
hire or otherwise acquire and maintain suitable buildings, apartments,
furniture and other fittings in India for the establishment of
offices, guest houses.
36.
To obtain from any person, firm, government authority, agency,
company or body corporate, whether in India or elsewhere, technical
information, formulations, know-how, processes, layout, blue prints
and expert advice for conservation of the built and natural, heritage
in the and to pay to or to the order of such person, government
authority, agency or body corporate, any fee, royalty, bonus,
remuneration in lieu thereof or otherwise compensate them in any
other manner for the services rendered by them.
37.
To pay out of the funds of the Company all expenses incurred/properly
incurred in connection with the formation and registration of
the Company.
38.
To guarantee the payment of money secured or unsecured by or payable
under or in respect of any promissory notes, bonds, contracts,
mortgages, charges, obligations, instruments and securities of
any company or of any authority, central, state, municipal, local
or of any person.
39.
To prepare redevelopment plans, technical, financial and other
kinds of reports including detailed project reports etc. for availing
assistance under JNNURM and any other similar schemes for Shahjahanabad
or any area identified by Government and other agencies.
40.
To avail, utilize and deploy Government Grants, Loans etc for
achieving the objects.
41.
To hold regular public consultations and formulate public opinion
in accordance with its objectives.
42.
To prepare and recommend the socio-economic and trade plans for
promoting the traditional art & craft, trade and tourism of
the Walled City. To prepare and recommend the relocation of trade
activities to promote heritage tourism in Old Delhi and / or to
facilitate urban renewal.
43.
To open establish, maintain and to discontinue in India or overseas
any offices, branch offices, regional offices, trade centres,
exhibition centres, liaison offices and to keep local or resident
representative in any part of the world for the purpose of promoting
the activities of the company.
44.
To undertake and carry out any other activity conductive to any
or all of the objects of the Company in order to meet the heritage
conservation policies of the Government.
