The Directorate of Small Savings aims:

1. to promote the habit of thrift, in order to enable people to cater to their future financial needs in a prudent manner
2. to offer different schemes of the Government for savings with optimum returns
3. to mobilize resources for developmental plans of the Government.
    

The Directorate of Small Savings & Lotteries began functioning in the year 1994.

The Directorate of Small Savings & Lotteries provides the following services:

1. To inform and motivate the people of the National Capital Territory of Delhi to take advantage of Government’s Small Savings schemes;

2. Appointment and Renewal of Agency under Standardized Agency System (SAS), Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojna (MPKBY) and Public Provident Fund (PPF).

3. Supervision of the functioning of the Agents.

4. To redress complaints and grievances of the public against the Agents.

Note : Maturity/Rate of Interest in respect of various Small Savings Schemes (like MIS, TD, RD, NSC, SSC etc.) is notified by Ministry of Finance, Govt. of India on quarterly basis. The detailed information regarding rate of interest etc. may be seen at website www.nsiindia.gov.in
