Commissionerate of Transport

Operation branch

 

The major functions are

(a) Registration of Vehicles and

(b) Grant of Driving Licences. The Branch is headed by Joint Commissioner (Ops.)
and the structure of the branch is as follows:-

 




Tax recovery branch

The major functions include determination and collection of road tax. The Tax recovery branch is headed by Deputy Controller of Accounts. The structure of the branch is as follows:



Enforcement branch

The Enforcement Branch is headed by Additional Commissioner (Tpt). The major functions include enforcement of Motor Vehicle Act and Rules framed there under including Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, and Delhi Motor Vehicles Rules, challenging, disposal of challans, impounding of vehicles and implementation of directions issued by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. The structure of branch is as follows :




Computer branch

The branch is headed by Additional Commissioner (Tpt). Major functions include computerization of all transport related functions. The structure of branch is as follows :



ISBTs
Headed by General Manager. Major functions include management of three ISBTs. The structure of ISBTs admn. is as follows :



Vigilance branch
The branch is headed by Joint Commissioner (Vig.). The Vigilance Branch deals with the complaints against the officials and other vigilance related matters. The structure of this branch is as follows :



Pollution Control Division

The branch is headed by Additional Commissioner (Tpt.). Major functions include co-ordination, policy on vehicular pollution control, checking of pollution level of the vehicles plying on road in Delhi, authorisation of pollution checking centres. The structure of branch is as follows:




Admn. and Planning branch

The Administration Branch is headed by Joint Director (Administration). The major functions include maintenance of Perosnal record of all the Officers and Officials working in the Transport Department, Transfer and posting of staff and other service related matters. The Planning Branch is headed by the Joint Director (Planning). The structure of Admn. & Planning branch is as follows :




State Transport Authority

The State Transport Authority is headed by a State Transport Authority Board it consists Commissioner/Secretary (Transport) as a Chairperson, Two MLAs as a member, Joint Commissioner (Traffic Police) as a member and Secretary (STA) as a member, as shown below:-

The State Transport Authority Branch is headed by the Secretary (STA). The major functions of this Branch is the issuance/renewal of permits for commercial vehicles (Passanger & Goods), fare fixation of metered taxis, metered auto and stage carriage buses, collection of authorization fees etc.

Mass Rapid Transit System :

This Branch is headed by OSD (MRTS). The MRTS Branch function as a Secretariat to D.M.R.C., which is an executing agency.
